Today's Office of Coast Survey traces its charting efforts back to 1807, when President Thomas Jefferson founded the Survey of the Coast. To celebrate and preserve this long history, NOAA started assembling the collection in 1995 as a data rescue effort. NOAA continues to preserve charts and maps produced by NOAA's Coast Survey and its predecessors, especially the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey and the U.S. Lake Survey (previously under the Department of War).
PLEASE NOTE: the sizes below are based on the majority of the NOAA charts. However, some are square and others vary from the majority so the size of your framed chart may be different than the dimensions listed below.
Also please be sure to look at the chart you are interested in, some are a horizontal orientation and others vertical.

Our framed nautical charts are available in two sizes. The large framed size is approximately 40" x 28" and the small framed size is 26.5" x 20.5". Again, sizes are approximate as each NOAA chart is a different size and orientation.
The Large framed chart is available in a black, bronze or barnwood 2" frame. The Small framed chart is available in a black 1.25" frame.
Plexiglass (acrylic) size: approximately 36" x 24" and 24" x 18"
Frame size: approximately 2" for the larger chart and 1.25" for the smaller.
Double matted with a white and black mat.
